This is Roger Hartmann's outdoor train collection in Intervale NH.(And yes, that is Roger Hartmann himself at the throttle!)Its a 1 foot gauge railroad that traverses nearly a mile of handbuilt track up and down grades and over several bridges and culverts. It is open to the public for rides daily (weather permiting). Anyone can ride the train, and it is a lot of fun. (Its by NO means "just for the kids!!!")

The name of the railroad comes from NH logging history. Back before the turn of the century (1880-90's) there was a logging spur from the MEC mountain division that passed over the Hartmann's property. The name of that line was the East Branch railroad. It is in honor of this fallen flag that the Hartmann's have chosen to name their own railroad the "East Branch".

BTW..the East Branch logging railroad was not affiliated with the well-known East Branch and Lincoln Railroad. This particular East Branch refers to the "East Branch Saco River" -a tributary to the Saco river in the Mount Washington Valley.
